| You can hire a car very easily in Paphos. The fact that Cypriots drive on the left was a big incentive for us to hire a car, which cost roughly between 12 and 20 cypriot pounds per day. The company we used charged an extra 20 pounds for a full tank of petrol. There are tons of car hire companues, but some look a bit shady. |
Paphos Overview |
Split into an upper town and lower town, the western coast resort of Paphos is amongst the best of its kind in Cyprus, if not all of the
Mediterranean. Upper Paphos offers amazing views of the coastline and harbour and is a delightful place to stay. Lower Paphos is
famed for its excellent restaurants and beaches. Paphos differentiates itself from other tourist resorts with its great cultural and
archaeological sites.
Most people who visit Paphos do so for sun, sea and sand, and while it is a great destination for this, the town is also culturally rich.
Amongst the most famous attractions are the Paphos Archaeological Park and the Tombs of the Kings, both of which are excellent.

Paphos Essentials |
Paphos Archaeological Park - The Roman mosaics found at the Paphos Archaeological Park rank amongst the best in the
world. Without doubt one of the most impressive of Paphos' attractions, there is also an abundance of plant life in the park.
Tombs of the Kings - These incredible tombs are on UNESCO's world heritage list and must not be missed. You are left
free to meander around and this really is the best way to experience this great attraction.
Paphos Aquarium - The aquarium has a superb collection of marine life in its 70 plus tanks.
Ayia Kyriaki - Ayia Kyriaki is the ruins of one of the world's oldest Christian churches. Although just foundations now
remain, the church is thought to date back to the 4th Century, and is a fascinating and historically important site.
Saranta Koroles - These excellent ruins are found in the upper Paphos. Destroyed by earthquake, the remains of this
Byzantine castle are well worth a look. |
